New Web site for Baby Boomers!

I came across this online baby boomer magazine, called "Baby Boomer Magazine Online." It has a good amount of information on all topics related to boomers including travel, retirement, health care and much more.

So check it out here: Baby Boomer Magazine Online

New Careers for Baby Boomers!

Many people over 45 or 50, or even older are starting second careers.  They retire early and find that they still want to work.  Costa Rica is a great environment for starting a new career, particularly a new business because the government is very business-friendly here.  Here is a good article from MSN on starting a new career:

Finding a Retirement Lifestyle

Finding the best type of retirement you want is important as we all consider what we want to do in our later baby boomer years.  Do we want to live in a beach community?  Near a golf course?  Want to learn a new hobby? Volunteer?  Our friends at BoomerCafeBlog have prepared an interesting article on finding a good retirement lifestyle.  To read it, click here: Retirement Lifestyles

Where to Retire Abroad

Baby Boomers Downsize their lifestyle

Apparently, as us baby boomers get closer to retirement, we're unloading many of the things we've accumulated over the years.  We're also moving to smaller homes.  A recent article in the Christian Science Monitor describe this trend among baby boomers.

Boomers Yahoo! Group

We've created a Yahoo group called "BoomersCR" because so many people seem to enjoy Yahoo groups.  By and for baby boomers interested in, or already living in Costa Rica, this group is creating a new community in Costa Rica of like-mined people enjoying the good life--young enough to be very active but old enough know they're having fun!  Check out and join our new group here:

Costa Rica Property Success to continue in 2007

Two recent articles describe why Costa Rica will continue to be successful in the real estate area in 2007.  This one talks about the market factors that continue to make Costa Rica desirable:

And, this one discusses why Costa Rica is still a good value for investment and retirement:

Provide your Opinions for a New Book!

We sometimes pass on inquiries from writers investigating, analyzing and commenting on us Baby Boomers.  Here's another one.   Take a look!

I'm writing a book called The Leisure Economy which is to be published next year by John Wiley & Sons. The premise is that we are now a time-crunch economy because all of you hard-working boomers have been going at it all out at work, and driving your Gen Y kids around to stuff too. When you retire, you'll be part of a chunk of the population with time on your hands. and those that follow you in the labor market may well choose a path that leaves them less time crunched at work and at home too.

So here's what I'd love to hear from you...are you in good shape to retire, and what will you do when you get there? Or, do you think you'll have no choice but to keep working longer than you want because you really didn't sock that much away? I'd be interested on people's take on the book too...do you think boomers are a workaholic generation? I don't think the media gives it enough play, but I think there is going to be a lot of inequality amongst retired boomers..some will be sipping wine in Tuscany while others will be figuring out how to cook to save a few bucks after a lifetime of take-out.

New Yahoo Group: BoomersCR

We just started a new Yahoo group, "Boomers in Costa Rica." It is
geared to baby boomers (born between 1946 and 1964) who live here or
may wish to live here. We're an open forum, however, and for anyone
interested in "everything Costa Rica."

We are open to any subject (except anything illegal or immoral of
course) but will focus on baby boomers connecting with other baby
boomers living here or those thinking about making the big move here.

We aim to be a forum for the unique needs and interests of baby
boomers which may differ from older (or younger) people. As such, we
will discuss investment opportunities, starting new businesses, making
professional connections, and more!

We'll also discuss one of the hottest topics here, real estate,
particularly on individual experiences on buying here. We hope to
sort through all the clutter on the Internet and through sharing and
networking, link up good people with other good people! We are NOT
about bashing some of the "bad actors" in real estate here, only
linking up quality people with quality services!

So, take a look, join up, add a message, and lets build a new
community of baby boomers sharing their experiences with Costa Rica.

The group is at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BoomersCR/

We hope you'll join us!

Thanks!
